What Is 5-Axis Machining – And Why Does It Matter?
As engineering designs become more advanced, manufacturing methods have had to evolve to keep pace. One of the biggest advances in modern machining is 5-axis CNC technology.
Traditional 3-axis machines move a cutting tool in X, Y and Z directions. A 5-axis machine adds two additional rotational axes, allowing the part or tool to be tilted and rotated during machining.
